SHRM-LI is a SUPER MEGA Chapter!  With well over 1,000 members representing over 500 organizations in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, designating SHRM-LI as your chapter will provide you with numerous opportunities for professional development and networking.  SHRM-LI is a 100% chapter requiring all members to first join SHRM-National and then designates SHRM-LI as their chapter affiliation at no additional fee.  As outlined below membership is open to those individuals with a commitment to the field of human resources ranging from students just entering the profession to senior human resource executives on the Island. 

 

 

As a SHRM-LI member you are able to:

  • Receive a reduced meeting fee rate when attending monthly chapter meetings to

    • Learn from professional speakers who discuss cutting edge human resource issues

    • Receive a legal update about current Federal laws and regulations

    • Receive a legislative update covering New York State laws and regulations

    • Receive credit hours toward PHR, SPHR, and GPHR recertification

    • Expand your resources by networking with fellow members

  • Draw on the resources of SHRM National to help you respond to every day HR challenges

  • Develop leadership skills by become a member of a SHRM-LI committee which may lead to opportunities to chair a committee or serve as a member of the board of directors

  • Access to SHRM-LI’s Job Bank to place and/or find new HR employment opportunities

  • Receive a discounted conference fee rate for the annual SHRM-LI day long conference featuring workshops lead by HR and business professionals from across the nation and an extensive range of exhibitors

SHRM-LI Membership Categories

Regular Member

Individuals who are human resource practitioners, defined as individuals working in corporate, academic, government or public organizations where the primary responsibility of their work is in the design, development and/or implementation of human resource and or industrial relations programs/processes.

May also be human resource consultants who provide human resource/industrial relation knowledge and skill services and have previously been practitioners in corporate, academic, government or public organizations for a minimum of 5 years during their careers. Regular members shall be national members in good standing.

They are eligible to:

  • attend monthly meetings

  • bring guests to the meetings

  • vote for chapter officers

  • purchase materials/surveys at member rate

  • be officers of the chapter

  • receive a membership directory

Associate Member

Individuals whose job responsibilities include human resource/industrial relations responsibilities in corporate, academic, government or public organizations although practicing human resource/industrial relations may not be their primary responsibility. Associate members shall be national members in good standing.

They are eligible to:

  • attend monthly meetings

  • bring one guest who meets Regular or Associate criteria

  • purchase materials/surveys at member rate

  • receive a membership directory

Affiliate Member

Individuals who provide human resource/industrial relations-related products/services to the human resource/industrial relations practitioner community or an individual who does not meet the Regular or Associate member criteria. An Affiliate member shall be the sole representative of his/her employer in the chapter. He/she shall also be a national member in good standing.

They are eligible to:

  • attend monthly meetings

  • bring one guest who meets Regular or Associate criteria

  • purchase materials/surveys at member rate
